Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Bard, is one of Scotland’s most famous sons. His most well known work is without doubt Auld Lang Syne, the song that is sung in many countries around the world on Hogamany (New Year’s Eve) to ring in the New Year.

The South of Scotland was Robert Burns’ homeland. He grew up in Alloway in South Ayrshire, built a farm at Ellisland near Dumfries where he lived with his young family. His final years were spent at his home in Dumfries where he lived until his untimely death at the age of 37.
