The Borders Distillery

Distilleries & Breweries
TBD is the first Scotch Whisky distillery in the Borders since 1837. Scotland starts here.

About The Borders Distillery

The Borders Distillery opened in Hawick in 2018 – the first Scotch Whisky distillery in the region since 1837. Situated on the banks of the River Teviot in an award-winning conversion of the former Victorian electrical works, the distillery is open to tour, taste and explore.

Take the fascinating tour and learn how the distillery makes Single Malt Scotch Whisky, William Kerr’s Borders Gin, and Puffing Billy Steam Vodka. You’ll be guided round by the people who make the spirit, finished off with a tasting experience in The Tait Gallery Bar. Photography and video are allowed throughout the tour. There is also an excellent shop with a selected range of spirits, local produce, and gifts.

Tours must be booked at least a day in advance, by phone on 01450 374 330. They are £20 per person and last 45 minutes.
Tours run at 11h00, 13h00, 15h00 - Monday to Friday from March to October.
Some restrictions apply for the health and wellbeing of both staff and visitors. Please call us for details.

The Borders Distillery is a 5* VisitScotland attraction, with a 5* rating on TripAdvisor.
