Day 1

Sanquhar to New Cumnock

What better way to start your visit to the South West Coastal 300 than by a visit to Crawick Multiverse. This spectacular land art installation is just breathtaking. Animal lovers won’t want to miss the chance to meet and to ride the beautiful Blackstone Clydesdales. And finally, step back in time at Cumnock Heritage Centre.

Dalmellington to Girvan

Step back in time on day two with a trip on the Doon Valley Railway, where you can see working steam and diesel locomotives from days gone by. Next stop, the spectacular Culzean Castle. Perched on a clifftop in South Ayrshire, both the castle and its grounds are well worth a visit, with the Adventure Cove playground a particular highlight for younger visitors. For the adventurers among you, Adventure Carrick based in Girvan offers a wide range of activities from watersports to forest activities, mountain activities and cycling.

Thornhill to Moffat

If you’d like to try some biking, Rik’s Bike Shed at Drumlanrig Castle is the perfect place for you. With a wide variety of trails for every level, there’s something for everyone. Next stop, the Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlockhead, where you get to experience the thrill of Scotland’s only underground mine tour. You can even try your hand at panning for gold! The Green Frog in Moffat is the perfect pitstop, with play areas, cafe and garden centre. And for the final stop of your trip, strap on your boots. You’re heading to Grey Mare’s Tail Waterfall. You can of course just enjoy the view from the bottom, but if you head to the top, you’ll get to see the stunning views over Loch Skeen and beyond.
