Newton Stewart to Wigtown

Cycling Route

Newton Stewart to Wigtown

Cycling

The cycle path 73 in Newton Stewart starts by the River Cree, goes under the A75 and continues mostly as a separate cycle path along the Cree estuary all the way to Wigtown.

Just before you reach Wigtown, take a detour to the Martyr's Stake, a chilling reminder of the Killing Times in Dumfries & Galloway. Wigtown has several cafes, restaurants and some of Scotland’s best book shops. If you have time Bladnoch Distillery is just 1 miles down the road, or ride to the Standing Stones of Torhouse on the B733 (a quiet road!) just 3 miles from Wigtown.
