About Winkston Hill Farm

Winkston Hill is a friendly working farm set on the outskirts of Peebles, in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

We offer a glamping getaway at our Shepherds Cabin located in a field beside a stream so you are in the rural countryside, yet close enough to enjoy the local sights and activities. This unique self-catering accommodation sleeps 2-4 individuals in a heated open-plan layout (living/dining/kitchen) with an indoor bathroom and also additional outdoor facilities (refreshing hot shower & eco-friendly compost toilet). It’s an ideal base for couples, families or friends in a relaxed and comfortable environment!

Winkston Hill Farm is made up of open countryside and woodland which is home to a variety of livestock and wildlife. We also offer opportunities to get an insight into a working farm by booking a tour to meet the animals and learn more about them as well enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our farm experiences are for all ages to enjoy in a fun, safe and stimulating environment with both indoor and outdoor experiences.

Interested in staying at the Shepherds Cabin? We provide the following amenities –
Cutlery and crockery, as well as basic cooking equipment (i.e. kettle, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, foreman grill, hot plate and slow cooker). There are plenty of good restaurants and takeaways in nearby Peebles and we also offer BBQ facilities.
Sleeping arrangements are 4 individual full size bunk beds with bedding provided. We like to encourage an environmentally friendly approach so you can avail of our outdoor compost toilet and refreshing hot shower as well as the indoor bathroom facilities with toilet, shower and sink. Note that unfortunately the outdoor shower is not operational during the colder months due to the pipes freezing. Whilst the TV is not operational, you can play DVDs and a small selection is provided. There is also a digital radio provided.
You have some lovely walks and cycles right on your doorstep when you stay with us. From Peebles, you can enjoy the stunning walkways and cycle paths along the River Tweed, with the surrounding Tweed Valley area also offering plenty to see and do.
If you are interested in getting an overview of the farm and meeting some of the animals (sheep, cows, horses, goats, hens, ducks) we can organise a farm tour or join in one of the events we regularly run. We also offer our own farm fresh eggs on request.
The Shed houses a variety of livestock including different types of sheep/lambs, cows/calves, horses, goats and hens depending on seasonal farming activities so there’s always lots to see and do. It’s also a great vantage point from which to admire the countryside views.

Check out the website for more information as there’s always something happening -

We look forward to welcoming you at the Farm!
