About Tweed Art

Art, enhanced by our passion.

Tweed Art is one of Scotland's highest quality bespoke picture framers, encompassing an artists' and craft makers' gallery. Guild commended and a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, Toby Watts has been framing for over 23 years and has built up a wealth of knowledge within this art. There is more to framing than meets the eye, as well as the glass there are several levels of protection, it is not just four bits of wood around a picture. Frames are used to enhance a piece of art aesthetically, as well as to protect it from dirt, dust and handling, while maintaining a controlled setting essential for the life of the piece. Not only do we offer our customers advice on the choice of frame and mount for their pictures, we also advise the best way to conserve their artwork and ensure that it remains in optimum condition. As part of our conservation we supply seven different types of glass. Two of these types of glass offer a level of ultraviolet protection to stop your picture from fading due to the sunlight. A majority of our wooden frames are sourced from sustainable forest and have consideration for the environmental impact. At Tweed Art we want to enhance your artwork by using only the finest quality Artcare mount board offering a range of 141 different colours.

As well as the picture framing we have an artists' gallery featuring a selection of original art predominantly from local artists. Every month we try to select an artist so the work on the wall is constantly changing. We try to keep a selection of local scenes painted by artists who know the area. We also stock a selection of screen prints, aquatint etchings and lithographic prints carefully chosen and some of which have been framed by Tweed Art.

Our craft makers' gallery meanwhile showcases a wide range of ceramics, metalwork, glassware, sculpture, wood and jewellery from makers around Peebles, the Scottish Borders and around the UK. We make every effort to get to know our artists personally, becoming familiar with how they work and what inspires them.
