About Top of the Swire looking North

As you leave Yarrow Village, the road up over ‘The Swire’, a climb of just over 160 metres, offers some great views. Stop at the top, aptly named Witchieknowe, perhaps have a seat on the monument built to commemorate the coming of age of the present Duke of Buccleuch and enjoy the view to the north. You are looking over the Yarrow Valley
This is a real Border view. It was scenes like this that inspired Ogilvie to compose this lovely poem to his Barefoot Maid
