The South Wing at Thirlestane Castle

Exclusive Use, Self-catering
Luxury accommodation in an authentic 16th-century Scottish Castle

About The South Wing at Thirlestane Castle

Five apartments within the South Wing of Thirlestane Castle each with their own fully-equipped kitchen and sitting area. All bedrooms have a private bathroom and views across the parkland or gardens. The accommodation has been finished in a classic but contemporary style with items from the castle collection used to furnish them.

Guests can either cater for themselves or we can arrange for one of our caterers to come and prepare meals. Enjoy an extra-special experience with dinner in the State Dining Room surrounded by one of the largest collections of family portraits in the country. Perhaps a cosy supper in the Victorian Kitchen with its traditional 19th-century range. A number of other experiences are available to complement the stay such as spa treatments, whisky tasting in the castle's Vaulted Cellar and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of the luxury cashmere mills in Hawick. For total exclusivity, guests can also take exclusive use of the castle and use all the State Rooms as they were originally designed, as spaces for entertaining and dining.

Enjoy exploring the nearby town of Lauder with its independent shops and eateries. For the more active, join the Southern Upland Way as it crosses the castle estate and explore the rolling hills surrounding the castle.

A unique place for a truly memorable stay and only 35 minutes south of Edinburgh.
