About The Contented Sole

Certificate of Excellence
2015
The Contented Sole is a traditional pub based in the picturesque town of Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders. Owners Eddie and Laura Bryce purchased the building in 2012 and have maintained its 17th century features. From bare bricked walls to low beamed ceilings, the pub is steeped in natural heritage.
Originally a fishing town, Eyemouth still plays host to a working harbour. The town boasts a colourful history and a visit to the local museum comes highly recommended. Across the harbour from The Contented Sole lies Gunsgreen House. Built in 1753 by a wealthy merchant and notorious smuggler, the house is now open to the public and a fascinating insight into the 1700s.
After delving into the past, the family can come back to the present with a range of modern day activities on hand. With an 18 hole golf course, a swimming pool and a ten pin bowling alley, there is plenty to keep everyone active. For those looking for something a little more relaxing, there is a Park caravan park, beach and arcades with fun for all ages.
