A stone cairn marks the spot where the Burgess Roll was called at the annual checking of the marches of Hawick Common. Any burgess not present without sending a deputy was fined and any councillor not present forfeited their councillorship.
There's a footpath from the road. Please park safely off the road and take care walking to the footpath as there is no pavement. Grid Ref: NT4793409075
