About Templand

Templand is a small village about 4.5 miles northwest of Lockerbie. Built during the Industrial Revolution as a place to home the workers of the nearby sandstone Corncockle Quarry, the stone from this area was used to build Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow. It was also used for the gallery's refurbishment in 2006.

At its height of activity, Templand had its own mineral line from what is now the West Coast Mainline, where 6 trains per week of stone were moved to Glasgow.
