About Stranraer Water Sports Association

With its sheltered waters, spectacular views and close proximity to Stranraer, Loch Ryan is the perfect place to enjoy water sports activities and events. Now, we are adding a brand-new Water Sports Hub to make it even better!

You can get into sailing, stand up paddle boarding, coastal rowing, kayaking, open water swimming, powerboating, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and more at our friendly, community-run organisation. We also deliver accredited training, including RYA qualifications and we host major water sports events, such as SkiffieWorlds 2025 and the Fin & Foil Championships.

We are passionate about making water sports accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for everyone. If you’re new to water sports, give one of our Taster Sessions a go! We offer regular sessions for kids aged 8 and over and for adults too!

Our weekly Kids Club is a fantastic way to enjoy for children aged 8-12, to enjoy water sports while making friends, building confidence and growing skills.
For young people aged 12-17, our Youth Group is designed for those wanting to give water sports a go for the first time, for people visiting Stranraer on holiday and for regulars to build and develop new skills.
During the weekends and summer holidays, we welcome families to take part in fun sessions on the water.
Adults can join us for regular Kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboard and windsurfing sessions, with more activities added regularly.

Whether you are an experienced sailor, rower or swimmer, or you’re thinking about dipping your toe in the water for the very first time, we look forward to welcoming you!
