About Soutra Aisle

Although it was once part of the medieval hospital church, Soutra Aisle became the family burial place of the Pringles.
The hospital of the Holy Trinity at Soutra was founded by Malcolm IV in 1164. It was very close to the main road, Dere Street and halfway between Edinburgh and the Border Abbeys made this facility an important hospital in Scotland.
