About Sorbietrees B&B

Accommodation at Sorbietrees consists of double, twin and family rooms (sorry, no children under 12 years of age). We have a guest sitting room with log burning stove where you can relax after a busy day exploring the area and in summer months why not sit in the garden to relax or to watch and listen to the vast array of birds which frequent our garden. If you are cycling, we have secure lock up for your bicycles and a drying room if you are unlucky enough to have a wet journey. We can provide maps and information for the area and suggestions for days out if you haven't planned your own. Newcastleton village has a range of shops and eateries with everything your need to complete your stay. Rock UK provides outdoor activities such as high ropes, zip wire, climbing wall, archery, swimming pool and lots more and also hires bicycles with direct access to the famous 7 Stanes trails. We are a very popular location for those of you wanting to explore Kielder Water and forest or to spend an evening at the famous Kielder Observatory. Sorbietrees has some of the darkest skies in the UK and is perfect for stargazing on a clear night. We have dark sky binoculars for our visitors use, but the skies are spectacular even with the naked eye. The vast eerie Hermitage Castle is just a short drive away with its connections to Mary Queen of Scots and her story can be continued by visiting the Mary Queen of Scots' Visitor Centre and Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum. Being close to the borders of Cumbria, Northumberland and Dumfries and Galloway, we are ideally placed for visiting Hadrian's Wall, Gretna Green, Carlisle as well as the Border towns of Hawick (the cashmere, tweed and whisky town), Jedburgh (a lovely border town with the abbey and connections to Mary Queen of Scots, Kelso (Floors Castle, the largest inhabited castle in Scotland and a pretty market town with cobbled town centre, Melrose with its famous Abbey and Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott between Selkirk and Galashiels.
