About Silver Lodge Scotland

Silver Lodge is a warm and welcoming self-catering cottage in the coastal village of Creetown, in the heart of Galloway, South West Scotland. Ideally located for walking, cycling, wildlife watching and exploring the region’s beautiful coastline, forests and dark skies, the cottage provides comfortable accommodation for up to four guests and welcomes up to two dogs.

All accommodation is on the ground floor and includes two comfortable bedrooms: one super king-size double and one flexible twin room that can also be configured as a king-size double. Both bedrooms open directly onto the enclosed garden through patio doors, making it easy to relax outdoors and ideal for guests travelling with dogs or bikes.

The sunny enclosed garden is a real highlight of Silver Lodge, providing a peaceful space to unwind after a day exploring Galloway. Inside, the cosy lounge features a gas stove, Smart TV, DAB/FM radio, Bluetooth speaker, comfortable seating and a dining area for four.

The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, air fryer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, fridge freezer and washer/drier. Wi-Fi, bedding, towels, electricity and central heating are all included. A travel cot and highchair are also available.

Silver Lodge is particularly popular with cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. Located directly on National Cycle Route 7 and close to Kirroughtree’s world-famous 7Stanes mountain bike trails, the cottage offers secure storage for up to four bikes, an outdoor tap and hose for bike cleaning, and an external power socket suitable for charging e-bikes. Guests can also borrow Ordnance Survey maps and route recommendations for local adventures.

Sustainability is important to us. Silver Lodge has a battery-backed photovoltaic solar energy system which generates much of the cottage’s electricity from sunlight. The battery system also provides emergency backup power during power cuts, helping maintain heating, lighting, Wi-Fi and essential appliances.

An untethered 7kW Type 2 EV charger is available on-site for guests’ use (charges apply).

Within walking distance are the village convenience store, the Gem Rock Museum café and the Laird’s Inn. Newton Stewart, just 7 miles away, offers supermarkets, independent shops, cafés and a cinema.

Creetown is an excellent base for exploring Galloway’s many attractions including the Gem Rock Museum, Creetown Heritage Museum, Ronald Rae Sculpture Exhibition and Quarrymen’s Arts Centre. Nearby destinations include Wigtown – Scotland’s National Book Town, the artists’ town of Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas, the Machars peninsula and the Rhins of Galloway.

The area is renowned for its unspoilt scenery, mild climate and exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf, birdwatching and stargazing. Wildlife regularly seen locally includes red kites, red squirrels, deer, dolphins and wild goats.
