Silver Lodge is a warm and welcoming self-catering cottage in Creetown, a coastal village in Galloway, South West Scotland. The self-catering cottage sleeps 4 people in two super comfortable bedrooms in a super king-sized double and either a twin or king-sized double. All the accommodation is on the ground floor level and both bedrooms feature patio door access to the garden. The cottage has a secure enclosed garden that is great for both people and their dogs to relax in as it gets the sun most of the day. It is rated 3* by Visit Scotland. It is 7 miles from Newton Stewart, 10 miles from Gatehouse of Fleet, and 13 miles from Wigtown.

Creetown is on National Cycle Route 7 and is also close to Kirroughtree’s 7Stanes mountain bike trails. Silver Lodge is cycle friendly and provides secure outdoor storage for up to 4 bikes. There is an outdoor power socket that may be used for recharging eBikes. An outside tap and hose pipe are available for bike cleaning.

The cottage has a porch boot room area for getting in and out of walking or cycling kit. There is a lovely waterfall shower cubical which is great for getting clean and relaxing in after an active day. Guests have use of a washing machine and dryer if needed. Guests may borrow OS maps for route planning and navigation and some route recommendations are provided.

In addition to the well-equipped kitchen, within a short walk there is a convenience store in the village, as well as a café at the Gem Rock Museum, and the Laird’s Inn that serves meals as well as drinks. There is a self-service fuel station in the village as well as several EV recharging points. There are three supermarkets just 7 miles away in Newton Stewart.

As well as walking and cycling opportunities, wood turning courses can be booked next door. There are several local attractions in Creetown including the Gem Rock Museum, Creetown Heritage Museum, the Ronald Rae Granite Sculpture Exhibition, and the Quarrymen’s Arts Centre. Further afield there is a cinema in Newton Stewart along with the Vaults Art Centre. The area is famous for its dark skies making it ideal for star gazing or catching sight of the aurora borealis. The Machars and Rhins of Galloway are both short drives away. There are plenty of opportunities to see wildlife locally, such as red kites, dolphins, red deer, red squirrels and wild goats.

South West of Scotland is well known for its mild climate, attractive unspoilt countryside and for the diversity of the outdoor and recreational pursuits. The area is renowned for golf, birdwatching, fishing, walking and the many beautiful gardens of South West Scotland. Logan Botanic Gardens, Castle Kennedy and Threave Gardens are all within easy reach as well as many smaller gardens and nurseries.

Nearby Wigtown, Scotland's Book Town is a must, as is the bustling market town of Castle Douglas. Both have a variety of craft and gift shops to explore together with good quality tearooms and cafes for meals out. The Artists Town of Kirkcudbright is also within a short drive and has a number of art galleries and studios due to connections with the “Glasgow Boys and Girls” historic art groups.
