About Riddell House

Riddell House is an elegant, mid-19th century house that is beautifully presented throughout, set in the rolling Scottish Borders countryside near Lilliesleaf (2 miles).

Inside, a warm and welcoming entrance hall leads through to the chic drawing room where comfortable seating has been positioned perfectly for enjoying the cosiness of the open fire. Just alongside everyone can gather for meals in the formal dining room with French doors that open up onto a lovely terraced seating area. It is the perfect place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or a BBQ in good weather.

A large electric range lies at the heart of the kitchen with seating around a central island and the TV room provides further space to spread out into.

For maximum flexibility all of the five bedrooms have zip-link beds that can be configured as either twin or double rooms as required. The downstairs bedroom is particularly suitable for anyone with mobility issues as it has its own en suite wet room with the added bonus of underfloor heating. The other four attractive en suite bedrooms are all set out upstairs.

There is plenty of private parking and as well as a lovely, enclosed garden there is also a full-size tennis court that just begs to be made use of. The external drying room is a very handy place for wet coats and boots, etc.

With stunning scenery all around the house and surrounding estate, there is lots to see and do right on the doorstep. An array of different walks and cycle routes can be accessed and there is lots of wildlife to spot along the way.

A range of outdoor activities can also be tried out nearby with everything from fly fishing and golf to clay pigeon shooting and horse riding.

History enthusiasts will love the Abbey at the centre of Melrose (9.5 miles) where there are a good range of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The town lies at the foot of the Eildon hills which are very popular with hill walkers with some wonderful panoramic views that can be admired from the summits.

Supermarket shopping can be picked up in Selkirk (5 miles) and, just outside Selkirk, is the Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre where the fish can be seen making their way up the river.

If a day trip up to the capital beckons then it is only a 50 minute train journey right into the city centre from Tweedbank (10 miles).
