Sitting on the River Tweed, the stunning scenery around Peebles is considered an area of outstanding beauty. Only 23 miles from Edinburgh the Borders town is the perfect balance of country side but accessible to the city.

The town motto is "Against the stream they multiply" as the River Tweed is world famous for its salmon fishing. It has a long history and was charted as a Royal Burgh since 1152 and the rule of King David I.

The town offers a range of activities for a great day out such as scenic walking routes, fishing, golf, cycling and horse riding. There are also great shopping boutiques and award wining restaurants and hotels. There are annual events and festivals held in Peebles that visitors travel from afar to enjoy. The famous week-long Beltane Festival showcases local legend, traditions and history, Peebles Jazz Festival and the renowned Arts Festival are among these.
