About Old County Hotel

The Old County Hotel (now Waterstones): During his ill-fated campaign of 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie made his headquarters at the Commercial Inn, Dumfries, now a branch of Waterstones. Various strange occurrences have been witnessed by staff and visitors to the Old County Hotel, where a troubled man bedecked in Jacobite attire was last seen in 1936.
