About Newton Stewart
Newton Stewart is a small market town on the banks of the River Cree, surrounded by the Galloway Hills. It was named after its founder William Stewart, son of the Earl of Galloway. The town is popular with hill walkers and mountain bikers as it is near Galloway Forest Park, sometimes referred to as the "Gateway to the Galloway Hills". Newton Stewart has a great selection of independent shops , accommodation and places to eat and drink.
