Nestled in the Moffat hills, Moffat town is picturesque and bustling town on the River Annan. Moffat was Europe’s first Dark Sky Town and on a clear night the skies here are simply spectacular. The town has put in special street lighting to reduce light pollution and preserve the clarity of night sky.

Moffat is surround by stunning landscape so is the perfect holiday destination for walkers. It lies just beneath the beautiful Devil’s Beef Tub in the Moffat Hills and is situated on both the Southern Upland Way and the Annandale Way.

The spectacular Grey Mare’s Tail, a 60 metre waterfall which flows from Loch Skeen, is within easy reach. And the walk to Loch Skeen via the Grey Mare’s Tail has been listed as one of the UK’s finest half day walks.

If you’re a more adventurous walker, you can climb one of Scotland`s Corbetts, White Coomb from Loch Skeen. Two other Corbetts, Hart Fell and Broad Law are also nearby.

Whatever your budget, Moffat has a host of great places to stay and superb places to eat along with a great variety of independent shops. Just 50 miles from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Moffat is the perfect place to stay to explore South Scotland.
