About Loch Trool Circular

This 11km walk starts from the carpark near Caldens. It is a good introductory walk in the Galloway Hills on a well made up path which most reasonably fit people will be able to manage. The views of the hills and loch are good. You are walking through a bit of Scotland’s history with a Covenanter’s Monument just a short bit away, the site of one of Bruce’s guerrilla battles, a modern monument to The Bruce, ancient native oakwoods, and new forests.
