Actually, there are two Yetholm villages. The larger, Town Yetholm is just across the Bowmont Water. You are now in Kirk Yetholm. The name probably means gate town and refers to its closeness to the Border. Kirk Yetholm is well-known to walkers as the finishing point of the Pennine Way.
