Duns Castle is an award-winning, exclusive-use venue, available all year round for weddings, family gatherings, corporate meetings, film shoots and events.

About Duns Castle

Duns Castle, sits as the centrepiece of a beautiful, private, 1200-acre estate just one hour south of Edinburgh. A haven of tranquillity with its own nature reserve, forest trails and pastures, the property benefits from starry nights and good weather for much of the year.

The castle is not open to the public but is available for exclusive-use bookings, both catered and self-catered. With its outstanding beauty, excellent value, discrete setting and ability to accommodate up to 56 guests onsite, this multiple award-winning estate hosts weddings and events both intimate and grand. A hugely symbolic choice of wedding venue (the Covenanters amassed here in 1639 to defend Scotland’s freedom of worship), the castle is fully licensed and accepts ceremonies of all faiths.

The estate can accommodate up to 56 guests (23 in the 12 rooms of the Castle and 33 in the 18 rooms of the 7 holiday cottages - all within easy walking distance of the castle). Guests can enjoy a host of bespoke activities from falconry, archery, clay-pigeon shooting, mini Highland Games and treasure hunts to residential art masterclasses and tree-planting ceremonies.

Duns Castle has appeared in numerous feature films (including Mrs. Brown starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly) and TV series (including Frontier on Netflix) and recently starred in HomeAway’s global marketing campaign linked to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. In 2020, it celebrates its 700th anniversary.
