About Drumtroddan Standing Stones

The site chosen for the stones is on raised ground which gives a great view over the Machars. There are three large stones at Drumtroddan, one of which is still standing whilst the other two are lying flat on the ground. The stones were erected between 2,000BC and 1,000BC, and it is not known whether the people who erected the stones were connected with those who, at a probably much earlier date, carved the Drumtroddan Cup and Ring Markings on rocks some 400 yards to the north west.
