About Cree Bridge

This is an attractive granite bridge built in 1813 replacing an earlier wooden bridge and ford. The toll house is one of several still visible along the old east-west toll road through Galloway. At the western end of the bridge the gardens contain a nineteenth century monument to Randolph, Ninth Earl of Galloway, a benefactor of the town.
