About Cream o' Galloway

Located in the heart of Galloway just a stone’s throw from the coast, Cream o’ Galloway Visitor Centre is a popular place to visit for outdoor exploring, events, lunch, wildlife spotting and, of course, ice cream. Events have become something of a tradition at Cream o’ Galloway, and our team love spending time with visitors leading hands-on activities and informative tours and events. If you’re visiting us for the first time taking part in an event can give you a great insight into the way we work.

Book an Ice Cream Tasting Session for introduction to 10 of our ice cream flavours and some background on how the ice cream is made in our factory. It is suitable for both adults and children

There are two ice cream making events to choose from, firstly our family friendly session suitable for adults and children over 5 years, creating your own flavour ice cream to take home and enjoy. This is held during the school holidays and the session last about an hour and a half. The alternative is held during school term times. The All about ice cream event, a two hour event during which you’ll experience every aspect of the ice cream journey – a tour of the farm to see where the cows are milked, tasting four of our most popular ice cream flavours and creating your very own ice cream from scratch in a hands-on workshop.

We also offer a full day Cheese Making Course where you’ll learn to make two types of cheese at socially distanced workstations.
This practical cheese making course is led by our cheese making experts, Stephen and Alina who are the main cheesemakers for our sister company, The Ethical Dairy. This workshop is a fascinating introduction to the craft of artisan cheese making. You’ll learn a quick way to make soft cheese which can be easily replicated at home. You’ll also make a pressed cheese, following the steps we use to make the cheeses, which you will then mature at home. In total this cheese making course will result in around 1kg of cheese to take home.

The Morning Milking event demonstrates how unlike most dairy farms we generally only milk once a day. This guided event is timed to coincide with that milking, giving you a fascinating insight into the day to day work of our farm. Your guide will explain what is happening at each stage, point out areas of interest within the milking parlour and answer any questions you might have. Our dairy shed and milking parlour is overlooked by a viewing gallery which gives visitors an opportunity to see what’s happening without interrupting the work of the dairy and without causing stress to the cows and calves.

Full details of the events can be found on our website www.creamogalloway.co.uk

Gift vouchers for each type of event can be purchased through our website and make a special present.
