About Cockburnspath

Cockburnspath is a village near the North Sea between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed. Cocksburnpath was formerly named ‘Colbrand’s Path’ after a giant from folklore. Look out for the local church which has a very unusual round tower. Neraby Dunglass Collegiate Church and Fast Castle are of historical interest, with Fast Castle being the fictional location of Sir Walter Scott’s novel the ‘The Bride of Lammermuir’. Cocksburnpath sits at the eastern end of the Southern Upland Way and the northern start of the Berwickshire Coastal Path.
