About Clovenfords

Clovenfords is a small village 4 miles west of Galashiels. Clovenfords has been settled in since 1750, when it became part of the stagecoach route between Carlisle and Edinburgh On the outskirts is Whytbank Tower hidden in the woodlands. This tower was built in the
16th century by James Pringle, ancestors of the Pringle family who today own Torwoodlee and Buckholm Estates. The hotel is a focal point of the community, with Walter Scott and the William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy having stayed there.
