Whithorn Roundhouse is a full-scale replica Iron Age roundhouse based on excavated examples dating to around 430BC. An experienced guide will give you detailed information on Iron Age life, farming and how the reconstruction was created. This is part of your ticket to the Whithorn Trust site and shows the type of native farmhouse which was being built around 430BC. We know the dates from radiocarbon dates which were analysed by archaeologists. The reconstruction includes details from the original building, reflecting its exact size, a substantial oak façade, and intricately woven flooring made of hazel rods.
