About War Memorial

The memorial is constructed upon a ramped brick base in the middle of the road and consists of a granite shaft topped by a lion rampant. The memorial was erected in 1923.
Not far from the War Memorial on the Edinburgh Road is Waterloo Place.
One of the former residents of Waterloo Place was a man named Thomas Dickson. Thomas was a veteran of the Battle of Waterloo and suggested the name for the area. He is buried in Lauder Churchyard.
