About The Memorial

The Memorial in the centre of the cemetery, depicting a broken mast, is dedicated to the fishermen lost in the Great Disaster on 14th October, 1881. Above the cemetery is Albert Road. The houses here date from the 19th century and were built by the more affluent members of the community.
