Stables Cottage is self catering holiday accommodation and annex to Holmfoot House, a large 1850's dwelling situated within an acre of attractive garden and woodland. It also nestles at the foot of Langholm's iconic Whita Hill, local landmark, with 100ft Malcolm Memorial crowning the summit - and is less than half a mile from Langholm's town center.

The cottage comfortably sleeps 2-4 in 2 bedrooms, with zip and link beds convertible to singles or doubles as required. Stables Cottage was extensively refurbished by current owners over 2021/22, now boasting modernised shower room/WC,kitchen and comfortable living/dining room with log-burner as well as views of garden and hills. There is ample parking. There are laundry and games rooms in the cellar beneath the main house. A range of garden furniture is available for guest use, on the lawn just outside the cottage.

There is immediate access to Langholm's extensive walking and cycling network. The local walking association have furnished the area with 14 way-marked walks varying from easy riverside ambles to more challenging hikes over moorland and hill-tops. There are numerous other walks possible, not least in and around the recently established Tarras Valley Nature Reserve. There are extensive possibilities for cyclists and mountain bikers. These activities and several others feature in a detailed and illustrated information folder, prepared by hosts, and available in the cottage.

Langholm is an attractive small town with a population of 2000, which swells to 5000 during event of the year, which is Common Riding, in the last week of July. This fantastic spectacle is serenaded by pipe, brass and flute bands and features displays of extraordinary riding skill on the part of talented locals, headed by the annually appointed 'Cornet'. Many other events adorn the Langholm calendar, including Autumn 'Chillifest', Spring-fling arts and crafts festival and November fireworks display. Langholm is also blessed with an excellent performing arts venue the Buccleuch Centre where live bands and shows can be seen. The town is also generously provided with Hotel Restaurants, cafe's and take-aways.
