About St Michaels Church, Dumfries

Visit the elevated site of St. Michael's Dumfries, where Dumfries first started to develop over 1,000 years ago. There have been three churches on the site, the current one dating from the mid 18th century, and it was here that Robert Burns, and many illustrious others, worshipped. Burns' Mausoleum is located in the churchyard that neighbours the church, and we are a must see for those tracing the footsteps of our famous bard. Additionally you will find many historic references and artefacts, to include some of the finest stain glass windows in South West Scotland. If you wish to join a Sunday Service at 11.15 am you will be made most welcome and invited to join us for refreshments after in the Church Hall.

We are now offering a number of events and tours over the summer months to include a Church & Churchyard Walk/Talk Tour. Here you will join us through 1,000 years of history and learn the story both of the church and the illustrious histories of the people who are recorded on the headstones within our churchyard. Please see our website or social media for updates on What's On.
Tour Groups welcome by prior arrangement. We can provide toilet facilities and refreshments by prior arrangement.
