About Rockcliffe Beach

Rockcliffe is a small sandy beach, beside the picturesque village of Rockcliffe near Dalbeattie. When the tide is low, the nearest open water can be almost a mile away.

The area is popular among walkers and attracts many visitors every year, with one of the main attractions being Rough Island. This nature sanctuary can only be reached by a tidal causeway. It is strongly recommended that visitors to Rough Island allow plenty of time to return from the island without being caught by the tide. Between the months of May and June the island is off limits due to breeding birds.
