The conservation focused Old Melrose Estate is an idyllic riverside retreat that offers guests a peaceful and secluded spot to “Retreat to Nature” with woodland walks straight from the door, an Estate Tearooms for a refreshing cup of tea or slice of cake and stunning riverside trails and viewpoints all set on a magnificent, wooded peninsula teeming with nature and wildlife on the banks of the River Tweed.

East Tweed and West Tweed are a pair of delightful, single bedroom, larch clad, rural lodges set amidst the rolling countryside of the Scottish Borders. Recently built these spacious lodges are warm and cosy with wood burning stoves, fully equipped kitchens, large walk-in showers, relaxing baths and stunning views from a wraparound decking.

The Folly is a delightfully converted Victorian Summerhouse perched in a secluded and elevated woodland position with gorgeous views out over the River Tweed and a spiral staircase leading to its king sized bedroom. The decking beside it offers a wonderful place to make the most of the captivating river views. Recently voted one of the Times “Top 25 Magical Woodland Escapes” the Folly offers guests a charming and romantic escape from the stresses of modern life.

River Cottage is a converted coach house with two bedrooms that has been lovingly refurbished throughout and is presented in a pretty country cottage style that is a clever blend of traditional and modern. A large fully equipped kitchen, wood burning stove, underfloor heating and the use of the private Victorian Walled Garden are just some of the things that attract Guests to this property.

With walks leading straight off into the surrounding Estate and a path from each cottage that heads down to the wonderful river, Old Melrose Estate is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries and enjoy the delights of the Scottish Borders in both comfort and style. Guests are encouraged to explore the Estate’s riverside and woodland walks, picnic by the river, feed the Estate chickens, pigs and goats, wander round the Victorian Walled Garden or simply visit the tearooms.

What’s included: Bed linen and towels, gas/electric central heating, wood-burning stove (plus logs), unlimited high-speed WiFi, TV & DVD. A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at an additional charge. No smoking.
