About Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities

Kirkcudbright is the place to be; whether for a day trip, or a little break away. This bustling harbour town is the ideal place to spend a few hours enjoying the lovely independent shops and cafes and enjoy some of the town’s fantastic events.

We have a packed calendar of events with something every weekend until October and lots in between. August starts with the four day Art & Crafts Trail, for which people come from all over the UK. Spend time visiting some of the 144 venues on the trail this year, enjoy entertainment and take in the fantastic atmosphere.

Every Thursday evening from mid July until the end of August there are Scottish Nights in the Harbour Square in the centre of town. They are a celebration of everything Scottish, with a guest entertainer each time as well as Scottish dancing and Highland dancing, pipe bands and the world famous Kirkcudbright Tug o’ War team – unbeaten for over 50 years!

The Grand Parade is an event not to be missed, as hundreds line the streets to the see large parade go by. There are horses, bands, loads of fancy dress entries, from walkers to lorries and so much more! A spectacle well worth seeing!

We have a range of monthly events including a bustling farmers market; one of the best in south Scotland and a monthly car boot sale from May to September. There are plant fairs in the spring and autumn, a kite picnic and kite festival, a woodland festival and lots more.

Our vibrant little town has so much to offer, regardless of age and interest. For art lovers we have a range of nationally renowned galleries. For nature lovers, there are hundreds of brilliant walks in the area, with abundant wildlife, breath-taking views, castles, beaches and so much more. There are plenty of attractions and events to keep the kids entertained and loads to explore, so come and visit Kirkcudbright!
