About Kelso Race Course

Horse racing was always a popular pastime in the Borders. In 1822 the Duke of Roxburghe built a new racecourse at Berrymoss, just to the north east of Kelso. The original stand which he had built is still used today. It was targeted unsuccessfully by a group of Suffragette arsonists in 1913. There are several race meetings each year which attract large crowds.
