Kailzie Gardens

Parks & Gardens
Just a mile east of Peebles discover seasonal borders, a historic walled garden with glasshouse, and woodland and riverside walks rich with colour and wildlife.

About Kailzie Gardens

At the heart of Kailzie lies its celebrated walled garden, enclosed by 18 foot walls built in 1811. Paths thread through colourful borders, copper beech hedges and a formal rose garden. Revived in the 1960s by Lady Angela Buchan Hepburn, it remains a haven of beauty and calm. The Mackenzie and Moncur glasshouse shelters fuchsias, begonias and tropical plants, while the arboretum beyond holds champion trees, spring carpets of snowdrops and bluebells, and rich autumn colour.

Beyond the walls lies an arboretum of national note, home to champion trees and rare specimens. Spring carpets of snowdrops and bluebells give way to summer rhododendrons, autumn colour and winter stillness, each season offering new discoveries for those who take their time to wander.

Try your hand on the gardener’s putting green, enjoy a friendly game of pétanque, or simply savour freshly prepared dishes in the flower-filled Courtyard Café, where garden produce inspires every plate. Browse the gift shop and plants for sale, and take a piece of Kailzie home with you.
