About Gateway to Galloway

Gateway to Galloway is located next to Stranraer Harbour, overlooking the stunning Loch Ryan waterfront.

This visitor information hub is community run, combining local knowledge and first hand experience with a real passion for helping visitors to make the most of their visit to Galloway.

The Gateway to Galloway centre showcases the wealth of things to do and experience in Stranraer, the Rhins and the wider Galloway area. The hub includes a retail area in which you can buy local crafts, produce, books and souvenirs.

Plan your Galloway itinerary by asking about local visitor centres, museums, activity providers and beautiful local gardens. Whet your appetite by asking about local restaurants, cafes and distilleries. Explore the stunning outdoors by finding out about local walking routes, cycling trails, watersports, beaches, sports facilities and wildlife spotting opportunities. There's information about local events and activities, and ticketing facilities too.

Gateway to Galloway also devised the Lighthouses of the Rhins Tours; a self led coastal tourist trail that can be enjoyed by bike, e-bike, car and by foot.

Stranraer Development Trust, who operate Gateway to Galloway, also organise the fantastic Stranraer Oyster Festival. If you're visiting the area in early September, this amazing celebration of the wild, native oysters of Loch Ryan is a must visit!

There's lots of free parking nearby and you'll be just a short walk from both the town centre and Agnew Park.
