About Floors Castle

Floors Castle is not only a Duke’s family home, but also the heart of the diverse Roxburghe Estates in a beautiful part of the Scottish Borders. Just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and Newcastle, visit this stunning Castle and see for yourself the collection of fine art, porcelain, newly restored tapestries, grand rooms and superb views. We have woodland and riverside walks, formal and informal gardens and lots of lovely places to walk the dog, or to sit and watch the world go by. There is also the chance to sample fantastic local produce at the Terrace and Courtyard Cafes.

The Gardens at Floors Castle combine one of the finest Victorian Kitchen Gardens in a spectacular Walled Garden with a formal Millennium Garden which features a French-style parterre and a charming summer house known as “Queen’s House” after Queen Victoria visited for tea here in 1867. The 4 acre Walled Garden is a unique showpiece of seasonal colour and interest.

Enjoy the frenzy of colour in the breath-taking herbaceous borders, explore the glasshouses bursting with soft fruit and exotic blooms. Discover a multitude of wonderful cut flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables are grown within the ancient walls making our garden as beautiful as it is productive.

The wider Estate Grounds are ideal for walking and enjoying the beautiful countryside, the perfect way to work off your Terrace Café Lunch.
