Once past the school and the Village hall you will come to the birthplace of James Hogg.

About Ettrick

An impressive monument marks the site of the small cottage (long since vanished) where Hogg was born.
A hundred yards further on and Ettrick Kirk looms on the right. Here James Hogg is buried amongst his friends and family including his grandfather, the 'far-
famed Will of Phawhope' and Tibbie Shiel.
