Cleikum Mill Lodge is historic building rich in history offering self catering in the heart of the Tweed Valley.
A building that’s always been a part of the community it was built originally as a drill hall which was converted to a successful wool mill before it was then fully refurbished and converted into holiday accommodation.
We provide comfortable practical, well equipped facilities popular with families, groups, schools and trip organizers.
This in an area of outstanding beauty and a perfect location for a self catering break in the Scottish Borders.
Situated in the heart of town with cafes, restaurants, pubs, a supermarket, greengrocers, bakery and 4 bike shops all within a few minutes’ walk. If you want the full bed and breakfast experience and hearty Scottish breakfast. This can be arranged 1 minute walk away at a hotel.
In the evenings if your not in self catering mode pop into a choice of eateries or choose from a choice of takeaways and bring food back to the building and relax.
The history is varied including Prince Charles (now King Charles) visiting the building when it was a wool Mill and we have photos for guests to see and there is a plaque on the wall outside.
The original building hosted the inaugural Cleikum Ceremonies in 1901 with estimated 1000 people said to be inside!!!
The building sleeps 10max in 5 bedrooms. All bookings are for sole use
Book The Lower Mill or the Upper Mill or the Whole building.
Lower Mill sleeps 6 in 3 ensuite bedrooms, Upper Mill sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms.
A perfect location in the heart of the Tweed Valley for walking, cycling ,mountain biking and exploring the Scottish Borders.
The Mill has a secure internal bike store, a huge drying room and clothes washing facilities for guests.
Its an ideal location for groups.
The town is well appointed with shops, cafes pubs/restaurants/tap room, takeaways etc all a short stroll away.
There are 4 bike shops in town and we have created a website of over 40 bike routes to help guests make the most of their stay.
Ideally located for day trips to Edinburgh by bus or car or nearby train or use the free parking at the park and ride.
A destination to savour at any time of year and great alternative to stay for events in Edinburgh.
