Clatteringshaws Loch is a freshwater reservoir that was created by damming the Galloway River Dee as part of the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme. It is a great place to spot waterbirds in summer and offers lovely views of the rolling Galloway Hills. It is also a great place to enjoy the night sky, with the visitor centre overlooking the darkest part of the Forest Park. At the visitor centre there are toilets and accessible facilities and a café which also sell a small selection of gifts.
