About Burnmouth

This small scenic fishing village is located on the east coast in the old parish of Ayton and is the first village to be passed after crossing the border into Scotland from England. The village is split up into two areas; Upper Burnmouth, at the top of the cliff and Lower Burnmouth at the foot of the cliff, consists of four smaller communities including Partanhall, Cowdrait and Ross. Some of which are so small they consist only of around six houses. A burn cuts through the cliffs and leads to the sea and the the Berwickshire Coastal Path is nearby. There is also a small church on the Brae; the road which connects Lower and Upper Burnmouth. This road is where the annual bike race known as the Brae Race is held every May. Burnmouth’s pub is called the First and Last, claiming to be the last pub as you leave Scotland and the first when you enter it.
