Borderland Food Tours
About Borderland Food Tours
The Borderlands are some of the most historically distinctive and richly fertile regions in the country. The beautiful rolling agricultural countryside & the sweeping coast are both picturesque & embedded with stories & legends of the past interwoven into the present day & the production of our food & drink.
Borderland Food Tours offer informal, guided food tours around the historic & agricultural Borderlands. Borderland Food Tours are passionate about local, sustainable produce and sharing the rich culinary & farming traditions of the region. Whether you're a foodie, local, or casual traveler, the tours are designed to provide a memorable flavour of the best the Borderlands has to offer. Borderland Food Tours are immersive food & drink experiences in and around the Scottish Borders & North Northumberland.
Guides William & Katrina Reynolds are local award-winning restaurateurs and guide the range of relaxed food tours in an area where they know what tastes good. These unique food tours allow them to showcase the Borderlands through local food, sharing the secrets and knowledge of the hidden local gems. Guests will benefit from special connections in this outstanding food-producing region. Traditional local delicacies and fresh, farm-to-table delights are showcased alongside the tales connecting the story of our food to the surrounding land & waters.
All tours feature the Signature dish of Haggis Cannonballs. Inspired by the local turbulent history and rich agricultural heritage, this twist on Scotland’s national dish highlights the region's connection to Robert Burns, who lived in the South of Scotland and immortalised haggis in his poetry. Rolled in flour and oatmeal, these bites celebrate the area's sheep farming and oat production.
There are six food & drink intervals/courses on each tour with a range of local produce including fish, meat, cheese, potatoes, fruits, cereals, bakery, chocolate & ice cream. Both alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks are offered too. All products tasted are sourced or made locally.
