Berwick-upon-Tweed lies just three miles from the Scottish Border, making it the most northerly town in Northumberland.

About Berwick Upon Tweed

Situated on the East Coast Main Line, there are regular trains that stop at Berwick, connecting passengers to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, York, London Kings Cross and beyond. Being close to the A1 makes it an easy to reach destination.

Berwick is a town rich in history. The land was fought over by the Scottish and English, changing hands 13 times. In 1482, Berwick was finally considered English Territory. Connecting Berwick to the rest of Northumberland are the three bridges: The Royal Border Bridge (1850), designed and built by Robert Stevenson, the Old Bridge (1624) and The Royal Tweed Bridge, also known as the New Bridge (1928).

Brimming with independent cafes, antiques shops, museums, galleries, play parks, river walks and beaches, there really is something for everyone. In the summer months you can even go dolphin spotting on the Berwick Boat Trips!
