Balmangan Farm

Welcome to Balmangan Farm, a 330-acre family-run farm on the Solway coast, in the Borgue community and just outside the harbour town of Kirkcudbright.

Balmangan is a working farm shaped by nature and located in the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere. We graze Highland and Belted Galloway cattle, and Tamworth pigs and are progressing toward organic certification. Rewilding, biodiversity restoration, improving habitats and encouraging wildlife to flourish across the farm’s fields, hedgerows and woodlands.

Balmangan Farm is a Northwoods Rewilding Network partner. We are a Scotland-wide chain of landholdings committed to nature recovery and sharing the vision for an ecologically restored landscape, where habitats are better connected and species can recover, expand and disperse.

Balmangan Farm is also collaborating with the Butterfly Conservation Society Borderland Project to maintain and enhance habitat on our farmland for rare butterflies and other wildlife to thrive.
