About Angela Lawrence Artist

This bright and very friendly gallery in Castle Douglas displays the paintings of Angela Lawrence , which focus mainly on Galloway and the Solway Coast.
It also displays Angela’s contemporary and atmospheric landscapes mostly from Scotland and the Lake district. Wild moorland, brooding mountains and shifting shadows contrast with the tranquil lure of distant horizons, while her vibrant seascapes refresh the spirits. We see the sea in close-up and from the shore or cliff walks, in many of the paintings featuring the Western Isles and Galloway coastline, while the mountains bring out the drama and adventure of high places. Some of the work is imaginary but always a key intention is to conjure up a sense of being in the Great Outdoors .
The gallery shows a prolific output of work mostly in oils, with some watercolour, and a great collection of archival quality giclee prints, all signed and numbered by the artist. These are mostly from the Galloway paintings, as are the images represented on here selected gift items - overall presenting visitors with a wide variety available to enjoy or purchase in the gallery. In the Studio there are usually a number of works drying and often it is possible to watch a painting in progress, and many visitors are welcomed to do just that, and to enjoy simply the displays. Holiday visitors often come back to see the finished piece at the end of their break, and Angela's work is also collected by art lovers locally and Scotland. Clience Studio is a small gallery, but a very popular destination for visitors to the area and locals alike.
Angela Lawrence is commissioned internationally and has exhibited widely in various venues including at the R.G.I , G.S.W.A, and Paisley Institute, the Royal Scottish Academy and Dumfries & Galloway's Spring Fling Open Studios events. She has been a recipient of a Creative Arts Scotland and D &G Visual Arts Award, and recently a prizewinner in a Global Seascape competition, but the majority of her work is to be seen at Clience Studio which she established in 2004 and moved to the main street of Castle Douglas in 2007. Angela is always happy to discuss her work or affordable commissions, which are in line with her current wall prices, and her paintings are exhibited all year at Clience Studio and online.
