🌊 World Oceans Day – Sunday 7 June
One Ocean, One Climate, One Future — Together

World Ocean Day brings millions of people together across the globe every 8 June to celebrate and protect our blue planet. This year, we’re marking the occasion in true Coldingham style on Sunday 7 June with a day full of community action, ocean care, and coastal fun — all while raising funds for the Berwickshire Marine Reserve.

đź’™ About Berwickshire Marine Reserve
The Berwickshire Marine Reserve is Scotland’s only voluntary marine reserve, protecting one of the most biodiverse stretches of coastline in the UK. Their work supports thriving marine life, sustainable recreation, community education, and long‑term stewardship of our local seas. Every penny raised helps them continue safeguarding the incredible underwater world right on our doorstep.

♻️ What’s Happening on the Day
We’re bringing together ocean lovers, swimmers, families and friends for a mix of hands‑on activities:

- Second Wave Swims – Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse
Drop off old wild‑swimming kit and associated items. We’ll repair, repurpose or redistribute them to help remove financial barriers to participation.

- Beach Clean
Join us in clearing litter from our coastline and protecting local wildlife.

- Nurdle Hunt
Help us track and remove microplastics.
🏆 *Prize for the heaviest nurdle haul!*

- Tea, Scones & Cake Sale
A proper community treat — all proceeds go to the Marine Reserve.

🌟Last Year’s Impact
Thanks to everyone who joined us, we achieved:

- **7.8 kg of beach waste collected
- **13 kg of swimwear and kit repurposed
- **25 participants, aged 25–75, men and women
- **20 people contributing valuable data
- Average donation per item: ÂŁ3.20

And the feedback that meant the most:
“While others wait to be invited, Coldingham Brave Bayers simply get on with caring for our coastline. Their kindness, stewardship and everyday actions show how powerful a small community can be.”

“I’m pleased that we are all inclusive. Many programmes are means‑tested, which means I cannot access them as I’m not on benefits — and people like me also need support.”

This year, let’s make an even bigger splash for our ocean, our community, and our coast.
**Everyone is welcome — come along, get involved, and celebrate our incredible blue planet.**
